"Since we haven't seen her, and that footage was recorded a while ago, I suspect she's still in the Mainframe access room." Martha replied. Another unhappy thought occurred to her. "God, maybe she's locked in there, and Adam might have hurt her before he disappeared. Can we override the lock on that door and get her out, Jack?"

"So a few days of memory loss and we're sorted?"

Jack avoided Andy's eyes but caught Gwen's for a moment. If she was right, it was more than a few days they were going to be losing. Best friends. Lovers. Who knew what else. "Pretty much," was all he said, though. It had to be done.

"She's there," Jack gestured to the screen when Andy asked about Tosh. "You're right, she's in the core."

"And it's time for us to move out," he raised his voice, catching everyone's eye. "I don't care what we don't remember," he said. "For now, it's stopping Adam, getting Tosh, and salvaging Mainframe if we can."

"Can we override the lock on that door and get her out, Jack?"

Jack nodded. "There's an emergency manual override outside the core room that should work still work in a level 1 lockdown."

"Adam may be there too, there's no telling if he can ... re-materialize, or worse, still access our minds even though he's not visible. So -" he glanced at Gwen. "You're going to the the core with Owen and Andy."

With disturbing suddenness, the soft serration - ignored but ever present - of the Hub's life support ceased. Jack went pale and turned back to the screen. The scripts scrolling across the screen had mostly stopped, only a few error messages and scattered attempts at engaging defense programing. The request for an emergency data dump had reappeared and Jack hit the 'N' key again. He also tried to disable Mainframe's control over the Hub's intrusion and quarantine systems but couldn't. The CCTV and surveillance systems were active though.

"He's watching us," he said, mouth thin. "Time to move. Gwen, Andy, Owen - get in there, get Tosh secured. Martha, Ianto, you're with me. We've got to get into the archives."

at this point, it's moving to mainframe with a side trip for Jack and co. Remember, Adam has some control over all the systems so have fun with Hal type problems: anti-intrusion measures, locked doors, anything you want to play with. I'll put up a couple of obstacles for you, if you want, in a bit.

Andy looked up at one of the cameras, then down to Owen and Gwen. The Hub was bristling with surveillance equipment, much of it concealed. There were dead zones, he was sure, but there was no way that he was aware of for the three of them to travel down to the core room without being seen. In all likelihood Adam had heard them as well and was aware of their plan.

He pushed away an unfamiliar image of prowling through some sort of ship and put his hand on Owen's shoulder. "We'd best get on with it then."

Owen nodded reluctantly. "Tosh isn't going to want to come with us. Forget believing what we're saying." He looked at Gwen. "She's not going to believe a word we say."

Jack followed Andy's gaze upward and he lifted his chin challengingly at the camera and whoever - whatever - was behind it now. "I can't deal with everything," he reached for his manipulator. "But that, I can stop."

Made centuries for now, for sabotage among other things, it was an easy matter to disable the CCTV in the entire Hub. In retaliation, the connection to Mainframe went entirely dead and Jack didn't doubt that was just the start.

"Gwen," he said catching her arm as she turned after Owen and Andy. "You're our ace, whatever happens to the rest of us, don't let Adam touch you. You're the only one who knows what really happened here. If - if we fail, you need to warn UNIT and Torchwood-Two."

"Clock's ticking everyone, get moving!" Then to Martha and Ianto. "Let's go."

Rhys put a hand on Gwen's arm. "Gwen, what are you doing?" he hissed. "Now the bloody computer's out to get you?" He didn't pretend to understand everything that was going on, and he and Gwen were going to have a long talk when this was all over. He wanted her to get out, if she was so goddamn irreplacable -- and she was -- but he knew she wouldn't do that. "Gwen --" he made a frustrated noise. "Promise me you'll come back, alright?"

Gwen nodded to Owen and Andy - they were changed, like this, and she knew that was only going to make things harder as she struggled to anticipate their actions, but they were still them, weren't they? She could still do nothing but trust them entirely, at any rate. They'd find Adam, save Tosh, it was going to be all right.

Jack grabbed her arm. "Gwen, you're our ace, whatever happens to the rest of us, don't let Adam touch you. You're the only one who knows what really happened here. If - if we fail, you need to warn UNIT and Torchwood-Two."

"I --" Gwen started, her throat suddenly dry. "Jack, it's going to be all right, I'll fix this, I promise." She looked around, thinking about how all of them were changed. Martha, her mind rummaged through as a rude awakening to Torchwood life. Owen and Andy, living according to a fabricated bond, while Tosh swore blind devotion to a man who wasn't real and Jack and Ianto changed so that they - missed each other, somehow.

She caught Rhys's eye. The thought of that kind of loss - well, it was unthinkable. She wouldn't let that happen to her.

Rhys spoke then, full of frustration but also trust, a belief that settled in Gwen's chest, something solid to hold on to.

"Promise me you'll come back, alright?"

"I will," she said, stepping up to quickly kiss him. "Get out while you can, keep yourself safe. I'll be back before you know it."

She looked to Andy and Owen. "Here we go, then."

Owen touched Andy's side for a brief moment, then dropped his hand. "Right. We've got no weapons, but that says nothing for Tosh." Let alone Adam. "First aid kit's got one shot of sedative in it. If we're lucky, we won't have to use it. But I'm not risking us being so unlucky that we can all get dropped. Last resort only."

They paused only long enough to grab a few more supplies, then they headed downstairs.

OOC: Supplies could be whatever. Mostly I figure flashlights & possibly rope?
