Andy stuck close to Owen. Just because a gun wasn't useful didn't mean he didn't want one. Except that part of him didn't want one. Part of him felt practical and ordinary and thought all of this was mad and wanted to go home. Part of him kept looking for evidence that he was dreaming. Part of him was all London and lonely. Part of him had started remembering a hundred impossible, horrible things.

If he focused on Owen, though, things felt clear. Uncomfortable, because no two parts of him could agree properly on why, but Owen was solid and familiar. If that meant fighting or fucking, it was all the same to Andy.

Problem was, neither of them had been down to the core much. That was Jack's territory, and maybe Toshiko's. Even with Owen's memories, Andy still wasn't sure how to get down there. It was deep, and not in the archives. He hoped they'd know it when they saw it.

"You don't think Tosh brought a gun with her, do you?" he asked glumly, toying with the zip restraints in his pocket. The idea of Tosh being mentally unstable and armed made Andy feel nauseous, but other than the obvious problem of an armed, hostile colleague he couldn't place why.

Owen shook his head. "Hope not. She wouldn't have a reason to, right?" Except if Gwen had had to escape from the Hub, and Adam was presenting the idea that she was dangerous...

They took the stairs down, Owen trying to remember the last time he'd even been near the core. Each stairwell only went a few floors before ending, partly a result of the patchwork construction of the Hub, and partly as a security measure. Moving to the second stairwell on the way down, Owen paused as he found the door jammed.
