Use a full transparent .png image.in Photoshop just choose 'New' > Transparent Background > OK...and you will have a transparent background to draw on. Then you just save that as a .png. That's the best way, then there will be no borders if you draw the texture on the transparent background. You can also make a alpha channel in Gimp, but it's not as good method as with Photoshop. |

That's impossible. If you have used a transparent background then only the texture will be visible in your game. There wont be any borders because there doesn't exist any background with any borders in the first place.

Heres an Idea go to Imageshack.us and upload that image that you would like transparent.. I will do the nasty yet easy work and make it work for you in your game... and then upload it back up for you with instructions of 1. what i did 2. how i did it 3. tools i used 4. how it works You can learn from it i think!

I'm sorry dispilleaions(I'm sorry again for spelling it wrong), I don't have Photoshop. So I use the closest thing to it that is free. Adobe Imageready. I just made the background transperant and exported it to TGA. |

Use picture sizes that are made up of powers of two, such as 64*128 or 256*256. Else the picture will be scaled to dimensions like this, because 3D graphics hardware doesn't support other texture dimensions and this can result in these unpretty borders. |
