I found these thing on this site, have a look

From the GM7 license
Quote:

2.1.  You agree and acknowledge that all right, title, interest and ownership rights in any and all copyright, design right, database right, patents and any rights to inventions, know-how, trade and business names, trade secrets and trade marks (whether registered or unregistered) and any applications therefor and other intellectual property rights ("Intellectual Property Rights"), in or connected with the Software and any and all copies thereof (including in particular but not limited to any data, database, designs, titles, computer code, themes, objects, characters, character names, stories, dialogues, catch phrases, places, concepts, artwork, animation, sounds, music, audio-visual effects, text, methods of operation, moral rights and any related documentation) are owned by YoYo Games. All such rights of YoYo Games are hereby asserted and reserved.

Some comments

Yoyo Games claims ownership of all such resources "in or connected with the Software". Since "connected with" is not defined, we are left very much in the dark about what exactly Yoyo Games owns--after all, aren't our games in some way "connected with" the Game Maker Software?

So, you can also read the license in this way...

Yoyo Games owns your game, your patents, your objects, sprites, sounds, your character names, your "catch phrases."  Heck, somehow Yoyo Games even owns your "Moral Rights..."

This is an answer I got from FredFredrickson by PM (non official) about this topic http://gmc.yoyogames.com/index.php?showtopic=302012

If you want an official answer, email YoYo Games. I can tell you though, that everything which was already said in that topic is accurate in my opinion. YYG has stated that selling games is (obviously) okay, and that their only claim of ownership is, as was pointed out, to the GM runner, and not to your work. Of course, you can't use pieces of the resource packs if you want to sell your game, and anything that wasn't created specifically by you or your team must be granted to you to use.

So, YoYo Games calmed people down UNofficially, but officially they didn't changed the license...what a fair behaviour <_<

BTW Dr. Best I don't think they can't claim a DLL as theirs (their program uses many Windows' DLLs ;) ): what worry me are games made with GM7...

Here is an official statement from YoYo Games, that can hopefully bring an end to this LONG discussion.

You all ABSOLUTELY have the right to do what you want with the programs you create.

Many of you point out correctly that YoYo retains the rights to the bits of Game Maker, including example code etc that you distribute with your game ...there is a sample end user license that you can use for YOUR games in the Wiki at YYG.com.

Regarding the EULA in GM 7 .... yes it's a poor job...we did this in a hurry and I regret that it's not clear enough and has less rubbish in it....we're waiting for a minor upgrade for GM7 to fix a few bugs, when we do that we'll obviously include a new EULA in GM7 at the same time. Meantime I'll try to post a new GM7 EULA on YYG ... I think I can make it so you can "accept" the revised terms in a simple way.

As Smarty suggested me, I asked YoYo Games for a helpdesk and they answered me...unfortunately, answers can be read only after logging in (is it valid only for my account ? )...anyway, here it is.

At least I'm glad they answered, but I won't release any GM7 version of my games until they release the new license :D

QUESTION
I found this Sandyd's answer on the gmc http://gmc.yoyogames.com/index.php?showtop...dpost&p=2131627
Well, I need some official clarifications...what does she mean by 'example code' ?

And, this is the most important question: If I write an AI (or draw a sprite) and then I use it into a Game Maker 7 game, then who will own the rights on the AI code (or the sprite): me or YoYo Games ?
Please be clear and don't only provide unofficial reassurances ;)

ANSWER
I said Absolutely, the sprite, as designed by you, remains yours. We are just trying to keep the rights to what we have designed (e.g. Game Maker), in the same way that you guys just want to keep the rights to what you design.

Yours and all the best,
Clayton

Ha-HA-hA...*falls off the chair*

Yo-Yo!?It`s good that someone takes the GM,but for what?!I really can`t find some serious changes or upgrades from GM6.Those guys will have my real respect if they take a real care in extending and making GM better(it looks really old and amost useless comparing to the U3d-(for 3d game creating))

So, unitl these guys show the world what they CAN ,not what they OWN I won`t tell them "Good done in owning GM now... :D "

PS:Sorry if being rude or something, but I really think I `m on the right side...

EDITED: I advice the mods to close this topic-it won`t be that useful for anyone...
And if I bleed I`ll bleed, knowing you don`t care... And if I sleep just to dream of you I`ll wake without you there... Isn`t something missing?..

TRUE ! The main change in GM7 is the registration system...a worse one -_-

How many times did Marks said: "Game Maker is not meant for 3D" ?
It doesn't seem to be true that ONE person (like Dr. Best, Xception, X-tra Fear) can do YOUR work better than you <_<

GM would be better if it would have been open-sourced and not sold to YoYo: they only want to earn.

Thanks to Dr. Best and all others that works on GM for free.

I seem to remember in the GM7 beta version that Dr. Overmars would not make it open-source because it would take a long time...

I do agree that Yoyo games hasn't done anything significant to Game Maker... if anything, they made the registration system much worse. The online mechanism is completely flawed, and I lost a comp that was "registered" that turned Lite for no apparent reason.
