I have already warned people about that. Do a virus and spyware scan to remove your virus because it isn't recommended to use a computer that has a trojan/keylogger. Else you can simply format your computer and make a clean reinstall. Takes like 10 minutes. |

I'm sorry, for your inconvenience, but the possibilities to trace back and punish spam bots are extremely limited. All I get is an IP that tells me approximately the country the spam came from and some spam email address. The responsible member has been deleted and his email address has been banned, so he can't register again, but that's all I can do. Despellanion and me do our best to remove spam as fast as possible, but it can take a while until it's gone sometimes. So the best protection against viruses is not clicking links in suspicious topics. If you haven't already done so you should get Avira Antivir and Spybot Search & Destroy. Both are free for personal use and both are really good tools for getting rid of trojans, viruses, adware and other dangerous software. |

i ran some spybot and some norton and i wasn't awake for the spybot but the spybot said i had 97 viruses/problems and norton said it found a highrisk virus and it got rid of it but my computer is still having a very weird problem, that i hope one of you guys know how to fix The problem: when the computer is turned on, it says, windows explorer(the thingy that displays the desktop and stuff) has stopped working windows is checking for a solution to the problem, then it restarts windows explorer(and keeps doing it, over and over) and it is very very very annoying, this message is different in windows xp it says something like windows explorer has stopped responding <end now> or something like that. can you give me any advice? |

take your computer to the shop. unless you know the anatomy of the computer system, you have no real chance of fixing it from something like that. i've reported several spam/virus posts lately, and from what i've seen on other forums, not allowing users to post hyperlinks until they're 10th+ post. would it be possible to do that here? |

that would be very good, all privileges like that should be taken away until the tenth post, even bbcode and everything else, just to be safe. |

Yeah, that would be a good protection, but unfortunately InvisionFree doesn't support things like that. If the Ultimate 3D Community would get very many registrations it would enable image validation automatically (where you have to type a number from a picture, when registering), but it can't be enabled manually. Currently the InvisionFree guys are working on a new forum system called Zeta Boards. If it's possible to switch from an InvisionFree board to a Zeta Board without loosing all the data, I may do this in the future. Hopefully these boards will have a better protection against spam bots. |

so there isn't anything else we can do until then? the best thing we can do, next to removing any spam posts and banning the account, is mentioned in my signature. you'd think invisionfree would have more things to do against spammers. |

Not really. I already asked InvisionFree about enabling image validation for all boards, but the answer was negative. And I think I won't use a Zeta Board before it's out of the beta test phase. |

Unplugg your internet cable from your computer --> then check for viruses --> remove them --> restart the computer --> insert your internet cable and you should be good. That's what I use to do. Sometimes I check for viruses manually. The reason you should unplugg your internet cable is because sometimes it's a tracking virus that can find its way back once you've removed it. That's why it's good to cut the connection to the internet while removing viruses. |
