we have a budget of over £1M to develop GM. Our first challenge is getting the runner re-written in C++.

we plan to re-write all of GM …i.e. the MAKER too in C, but that could be a year away.

MSE, you have no clue as to how insecure GM is at the moment. The runner being rewritten in C++ means your games being much more secure, and will also be slightly faster, due to the nature of their operation.

You may have noticed that every Ultimate 3D related download also contains Game Maker 5 versions of the files. This way those who haven't registered Game Maker can use Ultimate 3D (legally) anyway. And since the Ultimate 3D related things are the only things I make with Game Maker I use exceptionally GM5.

Game Maker 5 is also much more compatible with older computers. My computer is probably the suckiest one anyone in the whole community has (if not in the whole world) -- that's why I use GM5. It's a pain, because nobody posts GM5 examples, and some good games on the GMC don't work.

(Do you want to know just how bad my specs are? I've got 32 meg graphics card. There isn't anything much worse than that. :sad: )

My dream is to become a cheesemonger.
Yes, you heard me. A cheesemonger.
What is a cheesemonger, you ask?
Well, if a butcher cuts the meat, and the fishmonger cuts the fish, I think you can imagine what the cheesemonger does.

Where did he get that, in an antique shop?

gm7 is definetly not c++

you can tell, it just version 6.1 with a few more features, and a different file type.

It's not C++ right now... I just read that they might want to do that in the future :P

But in fact I'm not really using Game Maker anyway and if I am using it it's Game Maker 5.0 so why should I care  ?

Why would you use 5.0? :blink:

I pan on using gm5 for my game. :U3D: works just fine it it. My game will have lower requirements. It is compatible with win 98 - vista.
