Hi again! I have a problem - when I run the water and fire example from the site, a message tells me I don't have pixel shader 1.4 and I would very much like to know if there is any way I can fix this? Thank you! |

its hard coded into your graphics card and driver! if your graphics card doesnt have it, it will never have it |

As silverfire said, there's absolutely no way you can fix that except buying a new video card that supports pixel shader 1.4. |

In fact there is a way. You can use the reference layer. Then the application will run at less than one frame per second, but absolutely every feature of Ultimate 3D will be supported. The reference layer emulates all computations of the graphics device on the CPU, that's why it's that slow. To enable the reference layer in the Fire and Water Demo you have to open the options.txt file and replace the 0 in the second line by a 2. |

Well, that's strange... But it's not that bad anyway, because it's not very interesting to see the Demo running at 0.05 fps . Maybe you just weren't waiting long enough. If your system is old it may take more than twenty seconds to render one frame. The reference layer is really slow. The CPU just isn't fast enough to do the computations the GPU is optimized for.

Well, I waited for about a minute and a half and nothing appeared. I geass my videocard is just too old (GeForce II). Thanks for the replies, though. |

I've had this problem too. Black screen when using an reference layer... And I can't upgrade my videocard, because I have a laptop :(. But there is a way, shader emulators. I only found one with a working download link, but it didn't work on my computer. I saw some strange things happen, and I didn't get the error message, but it didn't look like how it is supposed to look. But maby it works at your pc. 3d analyze |

I tried this, but it still showed me the message I don't have pixel shader 1.4 |

Then you did something wrong... You must start your game via this program, and try checking some of the checkboxes...
