Can Vector Graphics be done in U3D, for those of you who dont know what vector graphics are here.

We have been trying to work out how to do it for days, Ok so on the edges of textures you would notice the edge its blured, with Vector the edge its always sharp and accurate, Halo3 uses it on the vegitation.

Wikipedia

Vector graphics (also called geometric modeling or object-oriented graphics) is the use of geometrical primitives such as points, lines, curves, and polygons, which are all based upon mathematical equations to represent images in computer graphics. It is used in contrast to the term raster graphics, which is the representation of images as a collection of pixels, and used as the sole graphic type for actual photographic images.

you can have a image but its not made up of pixels. its made up of lines (like meshes in 3d modeling) that can be curved, straight ect. the can be magnified thousands of time with out loosing detail

wikipedia

vector-based images can be scaled indefinitely without degradation.

some fonts use this

That would be great to have in a game, but that could be fps consuming, maybe? Either way, if it can't be done now, this should be added to the next version of the DLL, because the detail and graphics would be "SUPA-QUALITY"

Well since rasterization based 3D graphics (as those used for Ultimate 3D) are entirely based on vector computations you can of course have vector graphics ;) . Just don't use any textures. Model everything on the surface with triangles and give them different solid materials. It's not worth the performance loss anyway, you should better use high-res textures then.

if you had a vector graphic with normal detaill like a bmp. it would take up so many recorces and slow down teh computer quite a bit, heve you tryed flash ? in flash you can convert bmps or other pixel midia to vector,

even on my quad core and 4GB DDR3 ram beast, i cant do all the detail of color , randomness or complexness of a pixel based media into the vector graphics without getting hit with a performence loss,( well they were pretty nice sized pixel midia lol) because each color in teh vector graphic is a sepret vector. and each vector needs its own calculation. now just imagin lots of textures at pixel based media's detail runing as textures,
personally i dont think vector graphics would give you any advantage here as a texture.

My suggestion would be using a high resolution texture with high dpi.

In anim8tor you can only have 8 materials max ,I think
else.. modeling everything on the surface with triangles and giving them different solid materials works. ^_^

you can have infinate materials, you just have to drag the material bar up or down.

If it is so ineffective how can halo3 render all their vegitation with it?

cause you can get a lot done by throwing millions of dollars around
a.k.a. Microsoft

Could you please quote the source that tells you that vegetation rendering is done with vector graphics in Halo? Because I have my doubt in it ^_^ .

I have been looking very hard at the Halo 3 vegitation, and im sure it is. No matter how close you get to the plant, the edge is always clear and sharp. it is the same for trees, grass, shrubs....ect
