Ever tried SwitchAlphaBlending(false);
? I can almost promise you that this is how it's done in Halo, because that's how almost every game does vegetation rendering (including the U3D 2.0 Tech Demo
). It leads to sharp edges like those you described. The trick is simple. Anything that has a transparency smaller than 255 doesn't get rendered. This solution is way more efficient than vector graphics .
