(please excuse my typing, my keyboard is cheep and rubbery) ok so im planing on making a slash and hack game or a fighting game, so im probebly going to have alot of animations, i read the tutorial for model loading and it looks reliably, but do i have to load every animation? btw im using anim8or to make the models. next is there a way to make one animation accessable to all of the models in the game, given that they are all based on the same bone structure, just various bone lengths. and last, this deals with question 1, how would a make an animation transition? thanks in advanced -Higuchi |

umm...could i please get some help here? i would like to start as soon as possible. and one extra question, is there a way to add specific size distortions to the animations, an example is Mario's Punch or Kick, where as his foot grows in size while his leg also grows but certain sections of his leg only grow at a certain persent of the size of how much his foot grows, and while the section of the model is growing the bone is also getting longer? thanks in advanced. |

Because there are only 28 bones allowed, and not 28*3, you probably can edit the bone's scaling matrices in some future release of U3d. |

Read the manual on the math section. You'll understand it a bit better afterwards. Also, if you've taken any math class beyond Geometry, you'll know what a matrix is, right?
Hey, that's my technique!
Use matrices! |

hmm, i did not know there was a manual, could you please link me to it? also, i am taking geometry this year, the algibra 1 teacher i had last year tought me a little bit about a matrix . if im wright it looks something like this: _ _ |5 8 3| |4 2 5| |9 1 4| -- -- but i dont know anything else : ( edit--- found the manual. but what about my other questions i asked earlier? by the way, here is a new question: to make an online multiplayer game can i use game makers built in functions, does u3d have stuff for that, or is it impossible for now? |

There are currently two places where you can find the help file:
EDIT: sorry, I didn't see your edit :P.
You don't really need to know how matrices work internally, only what they can do for you in Ultimate 3D and how to use them ;). Basically they represent a transformation: a combination of translation (movement/positioning), rotation and scaling. You can transform 3 different things using matrices: objects (models, primitives & cameras have a retrievable built-in matrix describing their current position, orientation & size), vectors (another math object that is very useful) and matrices themselves. So you can transform a model object by manipulating its built-in matrix directly (as opposed to changing the transformation variables x/y/z,rotx/y/z and scalx/y/z), and you can also retrieve the matrix of a bone as a copy, meaning that you cannot transform the bone itself, but you can use that matrix for other purposes. This may all seem rather complicated at first, so invest some time in getting a good understanding of what you can accomplish with matrices (and vectors) and in time you will come to appreciate them. There are several examples around that make use of them; this one may be a good start, as it deals with bones in particular. No, U3D has no specific functions for online play, but you can use the existing *.dll's that are made for this purpose. P.S. Welcome to the community ;). |
