Would it be possible to create waves and ripples like Halo3 with U3Ds Model Manipulation Functions?

Water ripples?
Possible, yes. Practical, no.

He might want some nice details in his game, even if it's not strictly practical. It's always nice to make beautiful scenes!

Especially for screenshots, where FPS doesn't matter since the image is static :P, other than that, it would be nice to know how to do that ^_^

This can be done in a very efficient way through vertex shaders. There's a quite old Ultimate 3D example (for U3D 1.31), which had one. You can download it here. It's not that good, but with a pixel shader it could be improved quite a lot. Anyone who feels like deriving some cool new U3D 2.0 shader from this one can do so.

Ok, so converting this from 1.31 to 2.0.
What will SetVS(...) Become?
and
Will SetVSContant(...) Become SetMaterialEffectVSConstant(...)?

Edit: Can this Vertex Shader be Put directly into the fire water demo?

No. If you do not know how to work with shaders in detail you should better not try to get this working it could become very difficult for you. The shader isn't very good anyway.

I love that shader, even though it's only a vertex shader!

What happens now? A request in the shader topic?

I thought that shader was good. You could combine it with the other water shader in the FnW example.

I could make some better shader in quite short time (now that I know how to use the Taylor series more adequate). Anyway I have very few time currently, due to my school and university and I don't want to delay the Ultimate 3D 2.0 Tech Demo release too strongly, so this will have to wait on my to-do list for a while.
