Hi Folks, This may be a stupid question, but since I really am a newbie concerning shaders I still gonna ask this: In 2D GM there is this possibility to draw textures in different Blend modes, like subtractive or additive. (draw_set_blendmode(bm_add)) Is there something similiar in Ultimate3D for the 2D-Texture-drawing? I imagine something like a simple gradient png-file facing the camera for simlulating a glow effect for example. Would this be something you do with shaders? Or isn't there a simpler solution? This is not a stupid question, and I am suprised why no one has replied to this. Additive blending is not supported by U3d, however, it is possible in U3d through the use of a shader, such as a bloom shader. However using this method isn't really additive blending in the sense that it affects texture transparency. |

Bloom doesn't have anything to do with additive blending. It can lead to a look that's a bit similar, but it's a completely different technique. The current version of Ultimate 3D doesn't support additive blending, but this feature is planed for Ultimate 3D 2.1. Until then what you want to do can be done with a very simple post screen shader. |

Ok, thanks. Thing is I just started with programming in 3D and I don't really get the hang of shaders yet. But anyways, thanks for the reply and I really am looking forward to version 2.1 then ;-) It would make the realization of some simple effects a bit easier (at least for me...) Greetz Maenny |

Additive blend is going to be in 2.1? Cool. Would this only be for things drawn with DrawTex() or would it work with billboards too? |

This decision is still pending. It will be for particle effects for sure, and may be for primitives and models. |
