Sounds more like a hardware limitation to me? |

@ lueanardi Thanks for reporting this. Though it is a bit too less information you gave. It would be most helpful, if you would send me some application that provokes this error. It does not need to be any huge (memory consuming) project, just put together anything that causes it. If you succeed to reproduce the mistake that way just create the same model object 5000 times. Thanks in advance. @ Despellanion No, hardware limitations should not cause crashes. Basically every graphics device can render arbitrary amounts of geometry. The only question is how long it will take . |

no strangely it happend as i entered the warp room in the tech demo and then the same crash happened when i loaded a mesh into the collition example, that had +- 4000 faces. it gave me the blue screen of death afterward windows xp sp3 moaned about a kernel fault :EDIT it's caused by a bug in the 3ds model file... but why would it crash windows? and why did it crash at the warp room? Keep up the awsome work doc! |

A kernel fault? This is strange. The only way I know to cause BSODs on some graphics devices is by asking them to use non-existing data for rendering. But that results in a BSOD telling you that the graphics device has caused a fatal error. Other mistakes may result in a crash of the application, but they should never cause a BSOD. I am not quite sure whether this really is the fault of Ultimate 3D. Anyway I would appreciate if you would send me that *.3ds file. If there is some invalid data in it I will be able to make Ultimate 3D respond in a better way. Regarding the crash in the Tech Demo: Try playing around with the options a little. Set them all to the lowest setting and then increase them until the crash occurs. That should give some hints what is causing this. |
