I think its time for a community game. Anyone else agree?

I was thinking along the lines of an online game but not a big advanced one, something simple. Maybe a 3D version of this game: http://www.owensworld.com/flashgames/play-662.htm

I could be in charge of modeling the city and texturing and such, maybe with Bami's help since thats what gave me the idea (his renders). I have this done so far:

This is pretty much my vision but im open to ideas because yeah its a community game. :P

i could be general modeler, and i think i can get tank sounds; i have access to heavy machinery... so i can get the sounds.

Well, lets start a poll, since this is a community project. The choices can be "Top-down battlefeel" "Top-down and Full 3d battlefeel (since this is an Ultimate3d project)" or "Other." Lets make sure we know what the community wants before we begin. ;)

Dude i always thought a cool game right! ^_^
a FPS strategy game...

You start off with the top-down view here you can controll and build forces.. ala CnC style.
At any time a unit may be selected and by the press of a button it zoom's into a FPS view here a unit can be more effectively used!..

Tanks, Jet's, Infintry and more!

Well as eanbro stated i don't see why both games cannot co-exist.. :angry:

No offence but the most work in a cannon fodder game is not falling asleeeep.
With all the new game dynamics can't there be a real game behind it all..

Hey as you might know I don't use U3D actively anymore but I can make menus and interface (multilingual!). I'm pretty good at that. Just tell me when you need something.

I'm not against cannon-fodder games, but they are too simple for a community project-I could create one in a brief amount of time without any help.

About the poll: I've just started one. :P

But all this talk about zero-online functionality, no music, and no variety is downright depressing, not to mention more suited for a one-person project. The game I am describing will have a turn based game-type, turn-based offline+online functionality, tanks only gametypes, anarchy modes (no commander) as well as much more! ^_^

But thats exactly what i want. :lol:

I DO want online functionality, and Dead1yM00, we can make it LAN play so you can have it on two computers next to each other so our love of playing at school wont be gone. ^_^

Also, i DO want music (nothing over the top).

Let the poll begin.
PS: i voted '3D+Topdown, multi-vehicle, multi-gametype, battle game' because thats exactly what we should have.

and its a battle game.

I think the real poll should be whether its turn based or free roaming do what you want.

They are not both mutually exclusive (well they are, but they can be both added as separate gametypes) :D

So far the list of gametypes:

Team Deathmatch (2 Commanders)

Classic FPS Deathmatch (Anarchy mode (no commander), 2 maps can be urban maps, with only tanks and infantry),

Classic Team Deathmatch (Anarchy mode (no commander))

Artillery mode (Turn-based realistic version of Tanks)

Top down Artillery mode (same as Artillery mode but top-down)

Free for all Artillery mode

Free for all Top down Artillery mode

Tanks mode (Like artillery, but less realistic and tanks)

Top down Tanks mode

Free for all Tanks

Free for all Top-down tanks

All these modes but not turn based

Tanks and Artillery can be played on 1 PC (since it is turn-based), all other gametypes are either AI (if we have a good AI coder) or internet/LAN based

Airborne Team Deathmatch (aircraft only)

Airborne Free for all

possibly more
