I think its time for a community game. Anyone else agree? I was thinking along the lines of an online game but not a big advanced one, something simple. Maybe a 3D version of this game: http://www.owensworld.com/flashgames/play-662.htm I could be in charge of modeling the city and texturing and such, maybe with Bami's help since thats what gave me the idea (his renders). i would just like to state that before anyone can begin this project everyone needs to know the same about the project, that is what a design document is for and they are crucial not only to the people working on the project but to the game design as well. cause so far there is no stated theme or style for this project to succeed it needs to be managed in the same way as the U3D Tech Demo and maybe if we ask a moderator or Dr. Best we can get a corner of this forum (like the one for the tech demo) or just make one off site also i might share some ideas with Dead1yM00 about adaptive AI if no one wrights a design doc i might make one ( i have free time )

I'll do the design, I'm good at design
There are a few style to choose from: - Briefing screen: green system font characters, looking like a command line, with green windows with 1px border and an alpha green fill. For example something like this: Crysis menu Buttons menu, buttons looking like on a regular OS, makes it look more like an application. This for example. Or an integrated menu, something like this. You don't really see the difference between de buttons and background until you hover them. These are only a few ideas. Edit: you beat me Eanbro. |

Lol bloated acronym. Instead of calling it a first person shooter third person shooter, just call it a shooter. Also, massively really can't be done in GM (massively is not 10 persons at the same time) you just probably mean multiplayer online. Also, the more crap you insert, the less each element becomes. Jack of all trades etc. You better pick one thing and then work that out, adding features and such. Also, for setup screens and such, I recommend geargods GUI stuff, it's excellent. |

yeah massively to me is at least 4-8x4-8 online. I suggest the first template should have tanks rolling on terrain, and the next should have smooth transitions between the top-down and 3d. Then we can add my helicopter physics to it

What you described in that document are just general styling rules, not an actual style. Also, don't you think you bite off more than one can chew (Used translator for that...) with all these features, I mean it is hard enough to program an fps. An you want to combine it with topdown, also add rts and MMO! That's way to much... |

Well first lets make sure we can get tanks, terrain and top-down, (after we have some fun playing with the beta) then proceed to the rest of the stuff. And programming an FPS isn't too difficult (except for creating realistic animations.) |

I haven't read the txt files yet (since im on my wii), but having too many game modes will make all of them suck. Its better to have a few and make them really good, such as: -Deathmatch -Team deathmatch -CTF -War -Tanks (turn based) With some customizable options like what vehicles are allowed, etc. I dont think an fps will work very well, it should be 3rd person or top down. We could probably use AIM to communicate. Mine is bobscorporation. |

The hardpart about many gametypes is the AI. Now, are we going to have a campaign mode and no AI multiplayer? Or are we going to have AI for the multiplayer (quite a challenge for the AI programmer.) As for the FPS, you don't have to worry about that, if no1 wants to code it, I will.
