Hi everybody, I know that some of you really have been looking forward to this and now it is there. Today I have created the new category, which is called "Programming without Game Maker". In it you can find seven sub-forums, four of them with two additional sub-forums. The way in which the sub-forums split up the whole big complex of topics should be quite useful. The four sub-forums in which questions may be asked have sub-forums called FAQ and tutorials. In the FAQ sub-forum one topic with a question and its answer will be created by the moderators for every frequently asked question. In the tutorials sub-forum anybody may post tutorials on certain aspects of the topic of the sub-forum. For example I am planning to post an introduction to OOP on the tutorials section in "General C++ and C# programming". Along with the new sub-forums there also is a new moderator. As announced Ben has full moderator abilities now. He is also an author for the FAQs. Since he is an experienced programmer in C++ and C# he will be able to answer many of your questions. These new sub-forums certainly will change the community strongly. It is no longer just a community in which everybody talks about Ultimate 3D, but one out of many forums in which members may get help to learn how to program with professional languages. I am hoping that many of you will get better at C++ or C# soon. At the beginning there will most likely be more members with questions than members with answers, but hopefully this will change over time. So lets start helping each other. Lets fill the empty forums .Everybody who intends to post in the new sub-forums should read the new rules first. With friendly regards, Dr. Best P.S.: Those of you, who do not like how the new category bloats up the forum, since they do not program without Game Maker anyway should notice the small orange circle with the minus ( ) at the right top of the new category .

YAY, Now lets secretly clone gamemaker and call it an gamemaker. and make an exact copy of the user interface but make everything tinted black. and put the icons on different places. And use all the same functions as gamemaker but instead of fps() it will be called Afps() or draw -> Adraw Edited by Reikyrr, Jul 12 2008, 12:52 AM.

That idea does not have anything to do with the topic and it would violate copyrights since copyrights do not work the way you think they do. So why exactly did you post that? |

@ roelor Ah, that does make sense then . I have read serious posts with similar content a bit too often to recognize the sarcasm .@ skarik Hehe. I see you like my lofty babbling .@ Mauro Hey, nothing is going to happen as long as you obey the rules .@ zz man If you want to post about Visual Basic do that in the other languages section, but since nobody seems to be using this here do not expect many answers .

Yippy, finally, all the waiting (Only a week), now I'm finally learning stuff already. I guess it's exactly what I needed, a small boost to get back to learning C++. Praise

I'm pretty good at C++, so I'll stick around to help people get started. I can answer any questions, and make a few tutorials. I made this conversion to, so just remember, try to relate back to GM for learning. Like: "int/float/char[] x" in C++ is the same as "var x" in GM. |
