How would i draw a model on top of the hud

Same as a gun in your hand. The problem I am seeing is depth, if you have a HUD texture underneath it it could be a problem. Maybe a shader could help.

Hold on, my hard drive is dying as I type. Let me get on a softer surface.

Edit: It'll hold for a few more days.

Anyways, what you want is a render target (possibly 2) and then a post screen shader. You render your hud to one render target, render your model to another, and then find a way to put them all into your screen using a post screen shader.

I'm not too good with PS1.1 yet, though, so I can't make any low level things right now.

Use the room engine. put your model in another room
use a camera with a render target. set the camera to only see that room
now use the render target as a hud texture. easy huh. no shaders needed.
