Also, one day someone is going to hack the U3d dll.
I strongly doubt that. Don't get me wrong, U3D 2.1 is great, but it's not worth spending time trying to "hack".

Not really. The net is covered with Dll/Exe decompilers and disassembler. It wont be that hard. In fact I could do it right now...

I didn't mean it's hard to hack, what I meant was that I doubt anyone is going to hack it in order to inspect the code and continue developing it.

Sothh, what you're supposed to do is get a group together and set them to go to Dr. Best's residence with a bunch of picket signs.
Meet me there! (I hope you can speak German.)

I will leave you alone from now on DR. Best. Heres quote for you: "All good things die hard".

Any one know of a better 3d dll for GM?

Also, one day someone is going to hack the U3d dll.
I wouldnt bet on it,

Anyway, I can speak a little german.

That can not get you anywhere. C++ is not GML and compiled code is very different from the original. A lot of information is just lost in the process. With a lot of effort you can find out what some components of an application do, but working with code you got through reverse engineering is quite impossible. It is already hard enough to work with code written by somebody else, if you have all source files, all header files, including all comments and some additional notes.

Not to mention, I have already problems compiling things that other people share. (well suddenly the code isnt correct any more when I compile it, I think it has something to do with my compiler being naughty.)

Just drop the subject of trying to continue U3D. Dr. Best doesn't need to. He doesn't owe any of us anything. He's developed this as a hobby. Hobbies are supposed to be fun. Do you think Dr. Best has fun trying to update and debug line after line of hard-to-understand code that has been written to make up for GM's shortcomings? Do you think he has fun trying to make compromises and find ways to keep U3D running fast, even when interfaced with something as ridiculously slow as GM? I don't.

Guys, there's a reason he brags about C++, Python and U3D 3.0 all the time.

I actually think the following is very relevant to this situation. Just apply it as a metaphor.

Spoiler: click to toggle

In other words, you guys look quite lame looking for a way to get the source.
