It's scrolling because of the UFX effect loaded. |

Not sure. There's a function. The code's like: LoadMaterialEffect("shader/scroll.ufx",0,1,1) or something like it. Not too sure. |

Maybe so, but this is what you said: "I want to make chocolate chip cookies, but I am not going to take time to read the manual on making them." |

Yes, but if the instructions are in Spanish, he will need an interpreter.

Guys, I don't know what's with the cookies, because on the subject of shaders, I never had any directions. Lots of instructions and registers, but now directions. You guys think I made a shader on my first try? Hell, I burned cookies my first time making them, I still burn them, and that's how it is. You think I make a shader today and get it right the first time? No, it takes patience, persistence, never giving up, even to the point where Game Maker crashes because of a bad shader. Come on guys! Deal! |

I need the example or the code you are using. It should be copy - paste from my example. What I think the shader does is add something to the UV coordinates. The something is probably a scaled current time variable. It adds it to either x, y, z, or combinations and then saves it all to the texture coordinate output register. What vertex shaders do is execute for every vertex. You can edit the geometry of objects with these. What pixel shaders do is execute for every pixel. You change how objects look with these. Yea that's the thing, I do look a bit at the manual, but sometimes it's just a bit hard to understand for people like me. I mean, I'm not stupid, but I'm not a genius. I'm right brained. Anyway, I kinda want cookies that all look a little different then each other, like one has 1 chip, another has 2, another has 3, and so on. What I mean is that I want to know how to do an effect that works similar to the one in skarik's example, except you can set a given number of layers of textures, know? Maybe to save a bit of processing time.... know? |

The shader you are looking for changes the UV's of a vertex, there is not much more too it. Edited by zeo, May 25 2009, 03:46 PM.
