(If this needs moved, then move it) So I can model landmasses in Blender fine, but I can't UV map it to save my life, I was wondering if there is anyone here who can tell me how to UV Map landmasses. |

Well, if your landmasses are like the ones generated by U3D, a simple wrapping top-down projection does nicely, just like the U3D terrain generator does. If it's more complex, I wouldn't know. |

I'm saying that if it's built like the U3D terrains, where it only varies in height, and there are no overhangs, tunnels, etc., it often works well to do a top-down planar projection. |

Oh ok, there are no tunnels or anything. But how do I do what you just said to do? |

In Blender, make sure that you are in an orthographic view (it's default, so it should be, but just in case). Then, change your view to top. Make sure you have your UV unwrapping window open. Press 'U' in the 3D view window, and press "Project from View." If your landmass is a perfect square, or the width is as long as the depth, you can go ahead and select "Project from View (bounds)." |

Can't you just trow a texture on the plane just like in 3dsmax? |

Blender's UV system seems a bit screwy if you're used to 3dsmax. That's the main reason I stick with 3dsMax. You can't do that, Re, because likely the UV's were not preserved. I honestly do all of my UV's by hand. For a good example, check out Stickman's single player. That's what you do if you have overhangs and stuff. Otherwise, you're stuck with Blender, stuck trying to figure out how Gandalf is good at it, and stuck in the ground because of your collision bugs. |

Oh, I do wish I had 3ds Max...Cause I hate Blender and I'm still confused. |
