would it be easy to add nodes to the u3d; model format?

ive noticed the need for marker nodes like crazy if only you could define, make, and position them. then they could be saved to a u3d model. so that they follow the transformation of the model object and can be used like a static offset vector with a rotation matrix ive tryed to use bones for this but sadly i cant get my ms3d model or x model to show up when i have free floating bones about.
a marker would just be like a vertex with an identifier so you could retrieve its position same as you would a vector with a script like GetNode(Node Name,Node element id)
My instinct is to hide in this barrel, like the wily fish.

I used bones for what you're trying to do. It worked nice on Ruins. I think the view roll for the Repeater Cannon used that.

Either way, using bones or 'nodes,' your editor won't support it, so why ask?
