I don't understand the fuzz about the Raspberry Pi. Sure it's small and cheap but so is the Pandora which comes in a case with qwerty keyboard, gaming controls, touch display, speakers and Ångstrom Linux and I've had one for over a year. It's a bit more expensive than a Raspberry though but more powerful.

The Pandora can run Quake 3 at around 120 fps. No the Pandora doesn't have a camera. Maybe the second one will. |

Its more for people who are interested in using the capabilities of a PC for stuff you dont want to have your 700W pc running constantly for. I would personally use it to make a small low capacity server. (talking about 35$ RaspBerry Pi here) Also the price.. 370$ vs 35$, though the raspberry Pi only has a mainboard, I prefer the cheaper option. Off course when you are talking about that usb like stick, I agree, that console like machine would be so much more usefull. then you dont need to have a screen and keyboard by hand. YES.. server.. hotspot... Perfect if you need some cpu juice in a small place. The pandora is pretty sweet but it leaves much to be wanted for that price. There are a few items equal in power and features to the pandora for a lesser price. Edited by luenardi, Apr 13 2012, 08:59 AM.

Too expensive if all you need is a media hub. The idea isn't to have a laptop in your pocket... but to have a dirt cheap board for many jobs. Instead of just gaming... in any case most Android phones can do anything the Pandora can. Ask my x10 mini pro... it has a mere arm6 @ 600 mhz. Even plays tegra 2 games @ +-30fps.. Quake 3 time demo (184fps) a few inches in size. It depends on the job at hand.. and in my case, the pandora does not make sense for it's price. Why would you need HDMI when there's already a TV out cable? It would just increase the price even more. I paid merely $250 USD for my Pandora and am more than satisfied. It's so easy developing for it too. |

What is the maximum -video out or Composite out resolution? No more than 840 x 480 i'm guessing..... Rasberry PI has HDMI with audio... up to 1080P. wayyyy above 840 x 480. Also $25 VS $200 if you have a screen, keyboard or mouse lying around you are basically set.. All you need is a 5v power supply... it's not supposed to be competing with handhelds.. it's not a handheld. It's more project related... is this getting in there? why strip a pandora to make a robotics project or a media center? Desp are you feeling ok... i'm not attacking you. I just think you are forgetting the function of the device at hand. No disrespect to the Pandora it's a lovely piece of open source hardware. But the day of the dirt cheap handheld is apon us.. Cheap open source consoles and mobile PC's for the masses. ![]() It's pretty cool if you ask me. Edited by luenardi, Apr 13 2012, 12:41 PM.

You got a point there. The Pandora display is 800x480 so the tv output will of course be the same resolution. |

But the Pandora is still a good device. Don't get me wrong. The raberry PI is more for the electronics nut than for any random consumer.. you buy it for a reason. At the rate of today's technologies. USB sized quadcore pc + Full HD dual display 3D glasses + high speed internet "21Mbit 4G" + gps, accelerometer and a magnetometer = The technology is here now.. alternate reality window.... Fuc yeah. Be anywhere at any time.. all you need is gps, accelerometer and a magnetometer. Edited by luenardi, Apr 13 2012, 02:14 PM.

massive edits my bad... i'm a idiot. I can build a drone... 4 rotor blades with a camera and ATMEGA controlling the flight of it.. a mere 32 mhz kicking ass.. Imagine what i could do with a quad core. I just saw the US military is offering 2Mil for the best battle BOT. Skynet commands it so... No problem dude.. i also recommended the Pandora.. it's epic. i remember ^_^. I'm just moving forward often these days... Your pandora beats my modded psp hard.. im terms of many reasons.
