edit:
KING OF PAGE 115!

been building my computer since before i could remember, got really bad memory of my childhood

Most of the time I just Morph between major builds, Part by part etc, until i get something that requires a new motherboard/cpu:

first pc was a 500-600MHz, 256mb ram IBM slab desktop with a TNT2 i think.. I could play unreal tournament and quake 3 sorta well.

second one had a 1.2 ghz processor and 512 megs of ram, with a Geforce 2..

after that I started building my own machine up. replaced the motherboard some.
the last card I had in my AGP supporting motherboards, was an ATI RADEON 9800 pro, burnt that fucker out trying to push it to run crysis. lasted until you land in the first mission before it fried.
after that I only came across Nvidia cards for my machine, when I upgraded to a 64 bit system, I stuck with a 7800gt for 2 years before that pc died, my build at the time had 2 gigs of ram, got given a 7900GTX for free, upped my ram to 4 gigs and my cpu to 2.8 gig quad.

When the 7900 GTX started having severe heat issues. crashing and freezing all the time, etc.
I 'stole' my fathers GTX260 from his pc he left with me, and Swapped out my cpu with a 3 gig quad I got given for free. hah.

Got a terrible set up for anything really. but hey it works

The feeling of homesickness never goes away when you return to your parents home from years of being away.

same goes with the smell of ash and smoke from the day you set it ablaze.

My first computer was a Commodore 64, the best you could get in the 80's. My first self-built was a 200-400 Mhz, I believe, with a Voodoo 3 graphics card (kicked GeForce's butt at the time) and 64 or 128 MB ram.

@Dr. Best

To back at your question, I would definitely recommend FBX, or at the very least, a separate program to convert FBX files into your own format, so you can avoid certain legal things. It can contain such a large amount of information, and the API that Autodesk provides does a lot of the work for you - though with the issue that it's absolutely massive for my liking. An example is that the converter program I made is about 4 MB, while the current engine executable is at 2 MB, likely from Havok. Guess which one has less code written by me.

It definitely would be THE format to get Autodesk support, since it supports absolutely everything, from lighting, geometry, material settings, to morph targets.

Thanks, that sounds quite good. I will give it a try as soon as I need good support for Autodesk products.
