Actually it's a ellwoodii cypress, though many people use them as a christmas decoration like a tree because they take less space.

The tree is somber, I guess you don't feel much for christmas, or decorating trees anyway.

I like christmas, but I don't have that much space for a full-blown christmas tree.

Yeah, but it's barely decorated. Not that it matters though.

At least his tree is a real tree, we just have a synthetic one... It gathers dust in the garage each year until December month only to be stored away again... :P

Do any of you remember me making this comment a while back?

I just saw the headline that France just elected a new president - a radical socialist one. And one of his promised policies? A 75% income tax on the wealthy. I suspect France will regret that decision in a few years when practically all of the French doctors, scientists, businessmen, and lawyers have deserted France in favor of countries with laws more friendly towards the wealthy. After all, if you make $100 thousand a year after several additional years of schooling, what is the incentive for doing so when the bum who dropped out of high school and makes $25 thousand is essentially making the same as you after taxes?

I was right: Silly article talking about how cheap homes in France are because wealthy are leaving.

Many of the wealthy French are packing their bags and fleeing to countries with more friendly tax laws.

Reverse ish is happening here, many midle incomes go live just outside the border in germany. Since we have the highest fuel price in the world here. (9 dollars a gallon) and housing is expensive too.
meanwhile in america
"This year, they were so high that they set a record — Americans will have spent more on gasoline in 2012 than in any other year. The yearly national average price will be about $3.63 per gallon, according to GasBuddy.com."

You know it's actually true, we here in South Africa tend to also complain about fuel prices when we only pay $4.88 per gallon right now.

For us, $3.63 is ridiculous (although places like California have it the worst, where gas commonly jumps above $4 per gallon), considering gas was under $2 ten years ago. Also, public transportation seems to work better in Europe and larger US cities than it does in the rest of the US. You can thank our crazy urban sprawl and bedroom communities for that. It's about 36 miles to my dad's place of work, and it eats gas for breakfast thanks to the stop-and-go traffic that makes it take an hour and a half on average to go that far.
