Yes, Blender file formats are completely downwards compatible and partially upwards compatible. You should not experience any problems. |

Currently your Mix node replaces the displacement by constant white. How about changing it from Mix to Multiply and raising Color2? |

changes nothing, and without the mix node, there is still no displacement like there should be. edit:btw the road is supposed to be displaced as well, the road uses a displacement map. and the sidewalk uses a normal map(i was trying to see if using either one would fix the problem) Edited by zelda4evr, Apr 25 2013, 01:32 AM.

Your example worked on my pc but that method didn't work in my project. So on a hunch, I tried this with success. normal map node

Well, yeah, this will give you some sort of bump mapping, but it won't be the way it should be according to the normal map. |

hmm I thought it seemed awkward. Really weird how this project file won't do it. is there some magical setting that may be disabled... |

Nothing that I know of. Can you get your hands on a height map matching this normal map? There are conversion tools, the algorithm is quite simple, but I don't know where you would find a tool to do the trick. |

A setup like this should work with a heightmap: Spoiler: click to toggle |

Still no change. Could it be that the displacement feature in cycles 2.6 is incomple

Well, if it says that there, it might very well be true (unless somebody has been too lazy to update the list). What you could always do is to apply a subdivision-surface modifier and a displacement modifier to your mesh. This way you can generate actual geometry for the displacement. Alternatively you could ask that question on BlenderArtists.org. I'm pretty sure, that someone could help you around there. I'm not so much of a Blender specialist afterall. |

I was wondering if any of you have successfully created some sort of business with your skills. Whether it be doing gigs on fiverr, or using an established site you have made. I have attempted but haven't ever had the best of luck. Are you guys programming, creating media, or designing products for a company or your own company? I'm curious if you started from where I was and now have a business, and what you did differently than I. |

I went to college and studied a lot. Now I'm pretty good at math and programming. I have done jobs at the institute of computer graphics and can do so again whenever I want. |
