and the styling is just like any other windows application.
No, it's not.
Curious, in what way is the style (theme) of the pictures I provided different from the standard windows GUI?

It's lots of details. The theme is similar, but by no means identical and the entire look and feel is different. Generally I find Java GUIs to be a lot harder to control with a keyboard and they have a tendency to behave different from my expectations, which is annoying.

I get it, I think its also because since java makes it so easy to create a GUI, most people dont spend time on it.

I'm growing a lot of vegetables in my apartment but there is very limited light in the windows so they are growing slowly. I discovered that LED light makes plants grow pretty fast, so I'm thinking about making an arduino controlled indoor garden. I would program the arduino to simulate realistic sun light, and possibly automate hydration.

any form of light that isn't green would assist your plants in growing. try using a timed mister for the hydration.

Yea I'm going to be using white, red and blue LEDs. I want to spend the least amount of money possibly and I would have greater satisfaction creating the mister myself but if I fail I'll have to buy one.

edit: There are way more LEDs in the average house hold than one would expect. I found a strip with 6 red leds and then I found two unused remotes with bigger IR leds. I thought I would test the IR ones by soldering them onto the 6 led strip, the strip is a circuit board with dc wire input so I soldered the two IR leds with their resistors right where the power input meets the board. They didn't light up, but all the other leds did. So I flipped the two IR ones around and now they light up but none of the others do. Do you think it's because the IR leds have bigger resistors and are taking all the power away from the others or what?

So what do you guys make of E3 this year? I think Sony had a good show this year, but they would have been the champions by default anyway since Microsoft turned the Xbox One into a PR nightmare and Nintendo had nothing of significance to report other than a new Super Mario and Wind Waker HD (which looks basically like the original with fancy lighting). My personal favorite was the tech demo. I was a bit disappointed to see that the Final Fantasy series is still trying to be a hack 'n slash RPG instead of the traditional turn-based (or turn-based hybrid) battle system we all know and love. Still, Final Fantasy XV does look like it could be a good game in spite of that, and it better be, considering it's been in development since 2006.

I'm still somewhat disappointed about the Xbox One. The only interesting thing it has got is Kinect 2 but I really don't think that it is such a big plus for games. It's better suited for all the cheap geometry scanning stuff we are doing at our institute :D . And it comes at the price of 100€ and less graphics power compared to the PS4.

That tech demo is funny and it also looks pretty good. The subsurface scattering is not perfect, but still quite good for such a complex scene.

Which listens to your voice and movements 24/7 unless you pull the plug on it. Creepy as f*ck. I would never pay to have something like that in my house.

I've heard that if you don't check in every 24 hours online, that your games stop working. how ridiculous, these same games are going to be on pc and you can buy a pc version of kinect without all having to deal all of the conditions of xbox. And if you don't use windows, then you don't have to deal with microsoft.

Oh, yes, and another SSB. That'll be fun, but it isn't likely to be appealing enough to most people to convince them to buy a new console. The Wii U won't begin to fly off the shelves until Nintendo has more than two or three compelling titles.
