No offence, but I dislike Apple more than Microsoft. And as far as I know Apple did not bring out a console? |

![]() There has never been a time where a program prompted me saying "SUCKS FOR YOU, YOU NEED A MAC TO OPEN THIS" whereas, vice versa, when I try to open a select plenty of programs on a mac, it would open on notepad, or say "lol you need windows," and then give me the middle finger. Last time I used a mac, I got curious and searched if there was such thing as a windows emulator. |

Apple did try a console back in the 90s. It was so bad, I think it's been called the worst game console of all time by quite a few. It was a joint effort between Apple and Bandai, and the result was the Apple Bandai Pippin.
It's not so much that I don't like Nintendo as it is that I don't like the direction Nintendo's going. I really like a lot of their games. I just don't think Nintendo is going to survive much longer without having to pull a Sega and become a software only business. Granted, Nintendo has a lot more money than Sega did, but the current track they're on has them driving down into the valley of bankruptcy with a jammed accelerator (it must be a Toyota). |

Just ordered an OUYA. Will be interesting to see how it performs in terms of development. A Tegra3 chip should get you pretty far. |

This is bad ass

You can use the free version of Unity as well as the basic Android add-on now also is free (sucks for me because I bought it 1 week before it went free). You can also use GameMaker or any other engine that is able to support Android. Myself will be using both Unity and BennuGD. Edited by Despellanion, Jun 28 2013, 03:01 AM.

Ah I see, that's great. I developed an android fps with unity once it was a great experience. Also makes it easier to quickly test engine dynamics on your phone why debugging, then move bigger releases to the console. This really inspires me to get back into programming, especially android dev. Great post, thanks. |

I saw that and had to share. It had nothing to do with my ramblings. But if you want more ramblings... Nintendo's going to have some serious problems if they don't get some games out for the Wii U soon. Most good games won't hit until next year, and that's a bad idea with Sony and Microsoft releasing consoles before the year is out. Microsoft had quite the PR disaster, and a lot of consumers don't trust them enough to buy an Xbox One anymore, but quite a few will still buy a console. I predict that the PS4 will fly off the shelves (especially considering how many people have preordered), the Xbox One will have a mediocre to respectable launch, and very few will buy the Wii U (even though it's been out for a year). Then again, the promise of good titles in 2014 might convince enough kids and their parents (or just adults in general, since that is a very large portion of gamers now) to pick one up for Christmas. However, there are a lot of games people that people are getting excited about that will be exclusive to the PS4 or the Xbox. |

Sony and Microsoft spend too much on hardware, that's why their consoles are so damn expensive, unlike Nintendo. Additionally, people know what they get when they buy Nintendo and that's another reason why I think Nintendo will continue to stay ahead in this generation as well, because of their millions of loyal fans. |

I'll organize my market predictions: Console sale rankings: Sony Nintendo Microsoft Sony will win the market. The midrange price point of the PS4 (only $50 to $100 more than the Wii, as opposed to the $150 to $200 of the Xbox) won't run too many people away, and the third party exclusives will bring tons of people in. Nintendo's lower price point and consumer loyalty will help them do respectably. Microsoft's PR nightmare has already made it so they'll be fighting uphill the entire way. Console profit rankings: Nintendo Sony or Microsoft (Sony can't go any cheaper, but the new Kinect in the Xbox One has got to be pretty expensive) Nintendo will have the best profit margins. The hardware is cheaper. End of story. Dudebro demographic ranking: Microsoft Sony Nintendo Microsoft will have the largest proportion of dudebros playing their console because only dudebros are interested enough in Halo and Forza to buy an overpriced Xbox. Sony will still be stuck with a large number of the Call of Duty disciples, though. Nintendo will take their usual stance of being the most family friendly and send dudebros away in droves. Obnoxious 10-year old ranking: Sony Microsoft Nintendo Sony's online is cheaper than Microsoft's, and the console is cheaper. This looks better to the parents of an obnoxious 10-year old that will become a dudebro in a few years. The obnoxious 10-year old might be interested in games like Zelda and Smash Bros., but he wants to pretend he's an adult and play Call of Duty and hack off all the dudebros playing it. Third-party support: Sony Microsoft Nintendo Microsoft will have a mediocre launch day and sell horribly everywhere except the US (as usual), which will drive away third-party developers, but Nintendo has a history of alienating third-party developers that don't produce shovelware. Additionally, developers like Activision and EA appeal mainly to dudebros, who will all be playing Xbox. The combination of a strong launch, a midrange price, and Sony's generally friendly approach to third-party developers will bring more support for the console. Best games: Sony or Nintendo Microsoft Nintendo has a history of a having a lot of really good first-party titles (with a sprinkling of second and third-party on occasion), but with all the third-party developers that I predict for Sony, they'll have a lot of great titles, too. Microsoft will have Halo. |
