I found win7 always much nicer than XP. I admit a few friends I know ran XP for another 3 years before they started to have big issue's with vulnerabilities. I'm in win 8.1 pro it cost me 160 euro to get it and yes it had tons of teething problems and so on. But is so far quite secure provided it's kept updated and and a stable environment. Win 8 loves to use the gpu for ba tiny bit for work but mostly rendering.. i like that. Hopefully Win 9 will bring a pro version that is manly enough to make linux users jelly. So I've taken up the hobby of back yard metal casting. Been doing it for about 2 months and I can say its extremely addicting, there's always something to do. Especially since I designed and created my foundry, crucible and burner. I started with coal and a manual bellow, that was horrible. But now I'm using propane with a custom burner. I have high hopes and plan on creating custom parts and selling them. A few months ago I had a dream of doing this same thing with 3d printing but metal parts are in much higher demand and that dream sort of morphed into what I'm doing now. I started with just aluminum but now I'm making alloys and hope to get into brass soon. The most artistic, demanding, and time consuming part is making the molds though.

@zelda4ever, haha, well if you want to shell out 5$ Ill give you the source so you can publish it on the web store.
How did I miss this post!? I always wanted to do back yard metal casting, but unfortunately I don't have a back yard. How do you make the molds? I saw online they made them out of sand and squeeky foam. Edited by Reikyrr, Jun 11 2014, 06:45 PM.

meh, I think I can handle the glitch lol.
I have a pathetic excuse for a backyard but I've managed to fit a greenhouse, my casting foundry, a bbq and a small project (gasoline)engine back there lol. I've tried various methods of molds, lost foam casting in sand is effective for rapid results but they are very low quality and require a lot of machining. I haven't tried the two part sand casting method but I'm sure I will soon. Right now I'm messing around with 2 part plaster casts(casting a childs toy in plaster then pouring the metal into the hardened plaster mold) only problem with this is it can take weeks for the plaster to dry even putting it in an oven takes days. And you can't have an ounce of moisture or dampness in the plaster or it will steam when the metal touches it and put bubbles in your cast. It can take weeks to create a good mould just to have it all fail. I designed and created my foundry myself, started as a coal burner with a manual bellow, horrible. Converted it to propane, designed and created my own high output propane burner and it works amazing. Up until now I've been using soup can crucibles which is fine for aluminum but I tried creating an aluminum/copper alloy(copper melts at a much higher temp) and I vaporized my crucible and my metal filled my foundry. So now I've created my own crucible but haven't tested it yet. |

So I just discovered Pascal for the first time and I have Lazarus set up. I've looked at the source of castle engine and a couple other engines, but none of the tutorials are really friendly on getting started especially when they load resources through xml files. I am teaching myself pascal, but I would also like to tinker around with an easy to use game engine at the same time. Any ideas? I like http://www.pascalgamedevelopment.com/ |

Hello all! Some of you may remember me from a few years ago, I have also posted a game I developed with some colleges a bit ago Here. I'd love to let you guys and gals know that I have just been accepted into an internship here in Australia at Dreamgate Studios(you can google them, but their website is terrible). Its an indie company who works in partnership with the college I am studying at. I will be working on a game called "Light in the dark" currently its only on the iOS store, but it will have an android version within the next month. A windows phone version may follow depending on how long porting takes. For the game I will be working in partnership with fellow interns on an Expansion Pack. Complete new set of levels, puzzles, mechanics and more! We have been told we have full creative freedom, as long as it fits in the games style and game play obviously. I would LOVE to thank you all! Without you guys starting me off here with game maker and Ultimate 3D I would never be where I am now. |

Sounds like an awesome pathetic excuse for a backyard! haha, and vaporizing your crucible XD Guess you didn't set the phaser to stun. Hah, still alive? @rangataa, The nice thing I have noticed about programmers is that they love to share. Even if it is just to boast, I guess boasting by helping is awesome. Pascal is quite old, I'm not sure if it is a good language to learn I can't really see much job positions for Pascal here, and it is not even being taught at my school. A language I really like is C#, it's mostly windows, but it's also mostly awesome. You should be able to build games with that very nicely. Edited by Reikyrr, Jun 13 2014, 07:13 PM.
