Thanks, yeah that was one goal haha. I actually tracked down a bug today in my lighting code which was causing the lights to blend poorly, fixed that though :D

Also luenardi, that is looking pretty good actually. Its a unique style, keep it up!

I changed the configuration to something that should definitely work days ago and nothing changed at all.

Guess it really is time to open a ticket.

Still, the forum is quite discoverable. Ultimate3D.org links to the Zetaboards domain anyway and this works flawless for everyone.

I've been experimenting with techniques that I see in games like call of duty. One of my experiments was to make debris models and create a scene out of them. each object was fairly low poly I placed a large amount of them around and ended up with 70,000 polygons. I then texture, normal, ambient baked the whole scene onto a low poly plane. this is what i ended up with

That debris certainly looks flat enough to come from a game. At least when tessellation is disabled.

Hard to tell if those planks are standing up or lying down actually.

would probably be beneficial to bake height map and shadows then. It took me a little while to figure out how to bake all of these objects onto one. I ended up baking the ground diffuse, and normal as a base. Then baking all the objects(planks, bricks, rocks) onto one texture with a transparent background, I overlayed the objects texture over the top of the ground texture externally. did the same for the normal map and then just made a single ambient occlusion map. When I tried to bake the texture of the ground and objects onto the plane at the same time, only the intersection of the objects would be rendered. There are many different ways to achieve this, like just taking a top view screenshot of a high poly model and using that as a texture on the low and then normal mapping. Or not having a high poly ground mesh, just the final ground mesh and baking objects into that.

Can I get some life back into this place by announcing the release of a product made with the bleeding edge version of U3D?

What I'm talking about is the demo of my first paper describing an all new technique for filtering shadows. I presented it in San Francisco recently. There's also a video.

Yes! Step one, nice shadows. Step two, realtime global illuminati, step three, Skynet! Step four, profit?

I'm getting about 400FPS on the demo, without changing any of the settings (Except for T+7), though when I move up the resolution (R button) to 4k by 4k I get about 3 FPS xD. I also get a unhandled win32 exception when I press alt+f4 to close.

Thanks. I guess I know where this exception comes from but I'll have to figure out a workaround. Closing with escape works fine though. It's probably not the only way to cause problems either. The combinatorial explosion arising from all these settings can get pretty bad.

Skynet is more of a distant goal. For now seeing MSM get adopted in a few AAA games would be good enough.

So it has come to my attention that I haven't completed Sonic 3 or Sonic & Knuckles.
What should I play first? Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles, or Sonic 3 & Knuckles?
