So it has come to my attention that I haven't completed Sonic 3 or Sonic & Knuckles.
What should I play first? Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles, or Sonic 3 & Knuckles?
oh wow, I would say sonic 3 first, then Sonic & Knuckles.

Yup. Alive and kicking.

Just not much talk going on here lately.

I just published a Siggraph Asia paper. Unlike my previous paper it's not real-time rendering but more of that is coming up.

Cool, do you have a blog or twitter that can be followed?
EDIT: I see it is a link, read the text and watched the video. Can't say I understand everything but it looks like you optimized the detector for Lidar, the video was very cool I had never seen lidar in action before.

I want to start blogging about my stuff and get on twitter to share it but I never got around to actually doing it.

Yup. The changes are mostly on the software side though. Fancy algorithms turning the measurements that you get (which are not at all what you want) into the data that you want.

You may have seen it unknowingly. For example Kinect for Xbox One is an AMCW lidar system. I'm hoping to get this technique running on Kinect but for this Microsoft would have to disclose a few things.

Very cool, never used a Kinect though I know how it works. You did make me realize thats lidar, gives me a bit of insight in what you where doing. However, don't get specific on the maths that will break my poor brain :P

Happy new year!

I've owned a 1998 Saab for a few years now. And I just found another Saab owner, we met up and swapped parts between three of our cars until late into the dark. It was beautiful and majestic, we sacrificed one 2002 9-3 to make two complete 900 SE turbos.

Happy new year :yahoo: .

I'm still waiting for this forum to reach 66,666 posts. A few years back we would have gone there in two days but now it may never be reached  .

Disassembling and repairing old Swedish cars sounds like a fun hobby.

Also, while I'm posting here, I might as well promote my new U3D and research related work. Just recently I published my new real-time rendering paper. It is to be presented at i3D 2016 in Redmond, WA on 28th of February. The U3D-based executable demo is not online yet but you can already watch the video or download the paper (although you are not quite the targeted audience).

That's only a four hour drive for me.

on another note, windows has always been bloated with viruses for as long as I can remember. After a recent attack shut down my connection to the internet(modified my hosts file but changing it did nothing) I went to Linux full time. I tried Ubuntu 15.1 because I've always used Ubuntu, but this time Ubuntu didn't work for me because it couldn't detect even an Ethernet connection. So I'm on fedora 23, It's very nice. It automatically detected my Belkin pcb wifi network adapter(its massive, with a long cable going to a stand with three antenni), something windows was never able to detect. The compatibility with Linux these days is worth it. Also pressure sensitivity with my pen tablet never worked in blender on windows, and now it works, which is literally all I need to design things, this is great :yahoo:

The only Linux distribution I've done some serious work with so far is Ubuntu but it never grew on me. It's just not a very stable system. I've seen way too many frequently occurring, cryptic error messages in freshly installed Ubuntu systems. Also, I never manage to keep apt-get happy for a longer period of time.

Maybe other Linux distributions are better but since Direct3D is fairly central to most of my work I don't really care.
