certain electric toothbrushes use energy transfer between a certain distance. it isnt charged by being connected, simply charged by being near the base of the charger.

Braun tooth brushes.
Exact same principle.

It's called "electromagnetic induction."

Only if it landed on a induction coil.
But is very simple, robust, and reliable. therefore viable. ^_^

How did i know you posted.. android phone can do amazing things.
I read somewhere that someone had sent induced power 6 feet away. If you used a targeting base to point the coil at the heli, then you might be able to get a few feet in distance.

It would be cool to an autopilot that flys the heli in charging range when needed.

What do you think of Teslas idea of sending power over ground?

I would like to rig up a few coils and see how far I could send usuable data.

The further you get away the more powerful electromagnet you need the more power required. not very efficient.

Yes, though micro helis are only around 4 volts, so the extra power would not really matter.

It could work.
But it still requires more than 4 volts to get 4 volts.

If it takes 24 volts to get 4 volts at 10 feet that would be no problem.

At 10 feet... you will need a lot more than that.

Only 20 light years? We could make it!

We need a big coil gun to launch our ship, then use a plasma engine and a solar sail. We could also use a microwave laser from Earth to "help" along the way.

"300,000" to get there? I don't think so.

I saw some experiments with laser burst based propulsion.
That tech is way ahead of it's time.

Okay then, a solar sail, and a laser. A really big laser.

Hey, with laser burst you don't need any fuel but energy, correct?

That means we will also need a good deal of Plutonium.

If we could only build a fusion reactor, we could so do this.

I've always strongly believed that we are not the only life in the universe, I mean come on, why would we be alone?, it's impossble, and now there's finally proof. Ok, not 100% proof, but very accurate and plausible data.

Yes that's correct. but our safe zone is moving away from the sun.
Eventually the planet will burn.
So it's important for us to plan for the deep space future.
