i had an idea :D

for blurred shadows, why not use the blur shader and make a camera that only sees the shadows by setting its visibility to 100 or something, making the objects with shadows have a transparent texture, and set those objects to the same room visibility so only the blur camera can see the shadows, thus rendering the now blurred shadows :D

for less confusion

LoadTexture("gfx.random 100% transparent texture",1)

blur shader

object with shadow
SetObjectRoom(100)
SetMaterialStageTexture(0,0,1)

blur camera
SetRoomVisibility(100)


what i hope happens is that since the textures are transparent, the blur camera only sees the shadows(i tested this) and blurs the shadows, then renders them to the screen.

One recent development, which many game developers have not quite realized, is that the triangle count is not as important as it used to be. In times where pixel shaders often perform hundreds of floating point operations per pixel other factors are a lot more important.

The lighting is computed per pixel anyway, so it is not related to the density of vertices.
This is true, I have been able to get up to a million triangles on screen with u3d @ around 30FPS using my antique pc.
This however, was because I displayed the same object over and over and over again, and I believe I did not use lighting, I can be wrong tho. (If I did it was directional)

put some ssao on the shadow geometry XD
My instinct is to hide in this barrel, like the wily fish.

I did this for the first time today. It was actually pretty easy. I'm thinking of making and example/tutorial (cause it seems making tutorials of things that are easy is what I do best lol). But for now I'm just having fun with it. (btw motion blur the shadows is a terrible idea haha )
