Finals are over for this semester. Hopefully I can get some actual work done over the break. Does anyone know of any good tutorials for XAudio2? I can only find the most basic of information, and it won't even tell me which static libraries from the DirectX SDK I need to link to.

dunno if to congratulate or criticize.

oh well!

congrats.

smooth the models, the sharp edges ruin the harsh bump mapping. trees do not fit the environment well, seeing as everything is shaded brown and you have these bright white-green trees derping around. shadows look nice if a bit too dark, and the texturing on the boxes dont fit the rustic environment around it. the sun flare is nice, but incredibly harsh and stands out a lot more than it should, and the corners of the wall are sharp, so it looks ugly. might have to change up a lot of things.

i mean, if you dont mind.

Thankyou. I think my color correction shader is rubbing you the wrong way: Most of the things you mentioned were a result of it. The sun flare was an experiment; I don't really like sun flare effects at all. I don't know what kinds of walls don't have sharp corners :P , especially outdoor walls. Why did you say it looks "ugly"? It looks better than most of the games I've seen here. But thankyou for helping make it better all the same.

The models looks nice individually, but together it feels like it's missing some "flavor". Some more shrub would do nicely, and perhaps some detail texturing on the walls. Also, the tree crown is too brightly green, it doesn't look natural. Other than that you've done a good job.

well, it looked nice until i saw the corners, which had a sharp contrast to the smooth bumpmap. smoothing the normals would make the wall look nicer imo :P

i found this ancient example in my files titled "U3DOnline". i though hey, it would be pretty cool to make an online game. so i opened it and was amazed by the effort put into a simple example. then i thought "hmm, would it work if i ran it form 2 different PCs?" so i ran it on 2 different PCs, opened the server, ran the client for both, got one to work, the other didn't, and it FAILED. online? nope. can't read german, so half the stuff it says i cant understand.

Link, I think its probably dutch so I could translate for you. Anyway, if its over the internet you have to forward a port in your router at the place it's hosted at. Or use something like hamachi.
