I've seen it... the horror that is text speak, used on a full keyboard, by one of the two lead programmers in the dev team I joined in. I'm usually fine with dealing with most people who type like that. you know the type, the ones who don't use computers at all. the ones that text language is basically how they talk electronically because they are so used to it. I can deal with that, I understand that they are too used to texting over typing on a full keyboard...But one of the two lead programmers in the development team that I was introduced to, uses that on MSN. *facepalm*. They aren't fully professional programmers, but they have been working with compiler languages for well over 2 years. But they are expecting to be able to complete a game engine, and the game itself. you have to have some form of professionalism to actually have the drive to complete them. and text speak is definitely not professional. And... sadly, i have to deal with him on a level of intellectual discussion. which means having to not only decipher what he says, but have to hold back frustrations about how he types... I always thought programming was all about syntax. ._. Edited by Satyr, Oct 21 2010, 12:36 PM.

I can't stand that either. Here's a small lexicon of words and abbreviations I really hate
There's lots of others, but these in particular drive me crazy. I't like a slap in the face when someone chats with me in this way, like they're too busy or in a hurry to type a full word. |

Lol, but you use full sentences anyway, this guy talks like he's texting some bimbo for a shag. |

Sometimes easy is the best. Not saying Game Maker is the best, but it can perform great things. Edited by Despellanion, Oct 22 2010, 04:10 PM.

Well, the use of overly short derivatives is useful at times. For example when I am playing a game like dota (strategy game in which everyone controls only one character) you need to be able to relay the message quickly, an example of this would be: "b need mana k?" instead of "I am going back to the gloriously nice outfitted base to grab me some sweet mana to be able to use my spells again is that fine with you?". Off course I like to exaggerate. Sometimes I just like the way it sounds, for example when you say dunno instead of don't know. P.S. Dunno why but when I make sure I have as few as possible grammar and spelling errors in my text my text goes all neat and stuff.. hmm. (I need to watch my English since my grades are dying under bad use of the language.) Edited by Reikyrr, Oct 23 2010, 03:52 PM.

i dont mind abreviations its ppl that type too quickly and dont spell check then expect you to decipher whatever they wrote, that bugs the hell out of me. |

"that bug the hell out of me." Um, yeah... I seen a infomercial this morning that was only in abbreviation! That made me sick. |

Speaking as you write in (speed)chat always suck, only thing me, my friends and classmates use is "Lol","OMG" and sometimes "WOOT". (Guess LOL shouldn't really be in that list, since it means fun in Dutch..) Edited by Reikyrr, Oct 25 2010, 10:57 AM.
