Yet another question (I may have a lot of these) Has anyone played with a plain transparent texture, colored it light gray and made it almost 100% Alpha? maybe like 85%? To look like glass? Is there a better trick to that? Could you use a semi transparent gradient of a gray/white texture? |

it's mostly to do with the texture editor. it doesn't take that much to make a window texture, a specular shader over top would help it look more like glass i'm sure.

The feeling of homesickness never goes away when you return to your parents home from years of being away. same goes with the smell of ash and smoke from the day you set it ablaze. | |

Just set the material to transparent by using where R,G,B and alpha are in the range of 0-255. Then you apply a environment map using to create a glas effect with fake reflections. |

Isn't it more complicated than that to make reflections? |

Real reflections, yes. Fake reflections, no. |

Oh wow, thanks. I never even thought about reflections at all.. I was happy just knowing the glass part.. Someone mentioned a Spec map? How do those work? Is there a tutorial here about Bump/Spec/Shading? I imagine those all play a role in the final look of something. Edited by Docmesh, Nov 10 2010, 04:08 PM.
