I was just wondering if exporting a model as .u3d has any benefits such as saving any computing time. |

If you use the ModelViewer you have the benefit of using less repetitive code such as applying cel shading, creating optimized geometry for shadow casting, setting up different predefined colors and alpha values for certain materials, applying shaders, adding LoDs, etc. before saving it as an u3d-file. |

At runtime there is no benefit from using *.u3d files instead of other model files. However chances are good that *.u3d files are loaded faster. Compared to some of the other supported file formats you can also expect a notable safe in memory consumption (especially compared to *.an8). These are no big benefits though. |
