what UMC shader was the most useful for you and why? for me, it was monty's reflective mapping shader because i can have advanced graphics without lighting, similar to halo.

I'm honored, but that shader is mostly derived from the TechDemo's normalmapped-envmapping. If you liked that, I strongly recommend looking at the two serpent statues in the Tech Demo. They may not look like much on the statues, but they can achieve wonders if you apply them to your own stuff.

And going along with the theme of this topic, the most useful shader to me was the fallback Per-Vertex Specular Lighting shader in the Tech Demo. It may not look the best, but if you are reading this and looking to learn how to make your own shaders, I would check it out, along with this. It taught me a lot.

I think water is the most useful to me. Cuz it can also be used for a cloaking look and such if programmed correctly.

I find it important to say..
the bloom shader.
It builds the foundation for many other post screen shaders.

Get a much better cloaking look from the WARP shader.

Needless to say i just had a idea for a HDR like Depth and Warp and bump Shader
