My brand new favorite.
Windows Key+E - Opens the Computer
I hate using the touch pad on my laptop so this really eases things.

Also useful:
Ctrl+N - When pressed while an explorer window is active, opens the same folder again in another window.

Windows Key + L : Locks the computer. (I use it all the time at college, when I have to leave my laptop.)

Windows Key + R : Opens the Run box.

Also usefull: You can set up your own key combinations by right clicking a shortcut -> properties -> shortcut -> shortcut key.
Can save you lot's of time when you often need to use a program like for example a calculator.

I never knew that I always used:
Ctrl+Alt+Delete = Taskmanager

Ctrl+F4 = Close open program
Can't tell you how many indie games/programs I have played that I had to use this or TaskManager to exit out of that thing. It's like they never wanted you to leave or quit playing.

Windows Key+Any of the arrow keys: Maximize, minimize and snap the currently active window.

By the way. A somewhat lesser known fact about Windows is that it is actually well-documented. If you open the help, you will find a list of Windows shortkeys besides other useful information.

Windows Key + tab = In windows 7 it does the same thing as alt+tab, but with special effects.
Also alt+tab+shift ( or Windows Key+tab+shift) to scroll the windows in the opposite direction.

Not realy a shortkey but if my memory serves right, at least in windows 98, me and 95 when on desktop press in order (not hold, just press the keys one after another):
windows key+arrow up+enter+enter
...Would shutdown the computer. :P

control+mouse scroll up or down in open folder to change how the files are viewed, works for desktop icons too (well of course, they are technicaly files in a folder).
