Ever play a game where say your running from enemies close to death just hoping to make it to the next safe spot to regroup, you get there and think "yeahh I should probably not have made it." Was it dumb luck or was there some other aspect of logic playing part in your success? This is just my theory of an Omniscient Engine, or an engine that has control of your fate in games no matter whether your doing good or bad(more so bad). Here's an example: In COD MW(save boos for later), I can get shot 10 times, yet I'll pull the trigger for half a second and somehow get a headshot without aiming through sights when I should be waiting to respawn. Happens pretty frequently too. So what so yall think? Too far fetched? Have you had any similar experiences in games? Edited by RonBurgundy, Jul 17 2012, 09:28 PM.

CoD has pretty heavy autoaim from what i played so do you mean prescripted events? this one time in skyrim, a dragon was tearing a town apart and it would just barely miss me as i tried to escape |

Thats possible I heard the same, and yes prescripted events controlling the outcome regardless of what you do. |

I don't think CoD does this but it does have a lot of aim helping(easier to play if you turn it off) But yes I do think a lot of games do this to keep you playing and reduce frustration, the enemies do less damage and die easier when you're low on health, but the enemies are harder to kill when you're doing good. sort of a difficulty adjuster so you'll experience consistent game play regardless of your gaming ability. |

in halo 2, you have to fight tartarus and stop the halo from firing, and you manage to kill him and deactivate the halo JUST BEFORE IT FIRES :O |

Lol yea that's kinda lame and it happens a lot in game. Like even if it took me an hour to beat tartarus the ring would stop from firing just in time but I could have done it in 5 minutes and the same thing would happen .Offtopic: Halo 2 is the best halo imo, but not as fun as the first. |

wait.. are you talking about multiplayer Call of duty? and on what platform. because from what I know, It has no auto aim on the pc. and the part about halo, plenty of pre-scripted events there, pretty much the entire first level is pre-scripted. it only stops being so scripted when you get into the open environments of the ring. other than that, i'm still confused what you mean by an Omniscient engine..? |

The feeling of homesickness never goes away when you return to your parents home from years of being away. same goes with the smell of ash and smoke from the day you set it ablaze. | |

Yeah multiplayer and on xbox 360. Lol okay no I don't mean cutscenes I mean actual gameplay. What zelda said is what I'am getting at. I remember in a shooter game I played a while ago online (not halo 2 ) I killed by an explosion. The next time I started the last checkpoint I got bombarded with explosions like the game was trying to taunt meh.

This one time I chose to let a car pass by going a bit slower (So he had enough time to cross), then a few seconds later bird poo fell on the place I would be riding if I where to have gone that bit faster. |

You know, humans, draw together conclusions from random things. That, combining the fact that random seeds are not so random, and you have quite a combination. An actor was asked to sit in a chair and do nothing. Then the producer added random scenes at the end. The audience drew the conclusion that he was some how connected with the scenes, and that he was experiencing the emotion of the spliced in scene (if, for example, there was a scene of a sad teddy bear, the audience would assume that the actor was sad, even though in the previous scene the actor had no emotion at all.)
