Sorry, previous topic was wrong, so I started new topic.
Here you can write down installer makers (with links) and say why you like/don't like them.

Installers are completely unnecessary and annoying for small game projects made with GM. You have no need for them and I don't want to have to go through a install process just to try out someone's game for 2-3 minutes. When your game reaches sizes above 500MB with lots of fonts and data/save files, etc. then you might want to start think about incorporating installers.

I only ever consider an installer for a game necessary if the game requires setting up registry entries, and setting up folders outside of the game folder, which personally I don't even like as a way of sorting things out. and the size really does matter, if it takes more time to go through the installer menu compared with uncompressing a zip file. then the installer is absolutely unnecessary
The feeling of homesickness never goes away when you return to your parents home from years of being away.

same goes with the smell of ash and smoke from the day you set it ablaze.

me personally i need installers if my game has fancy fonts. some people are afraid of viruses but i would never bundle my game with a virus intentionally.

Well, I couldent really vote in your poll because I dont hate them, but I dont like them either. I would prefer a self-extracting archive or just manually installing it myself. Mainly because I find many installers these days pester you with spammy toolbars and pointless software and adverts etc. and they only give you as much control as the person who made the installer decided you should have. They also seem to take ages to install the software too.

Unless you need access to the registry, need files in various places on the computer, or your project is quite large, an installer is completely unnecessary. It's much easier to use a zip file on a 20MB WIP/tech demo that will probably never get finished (at least not the way the programmer wants it) than it is to use an installer. Not to mention you don't need an additional piece of software to create the zip file, since Windows supports that natively.

Installers often create a lot of folders, for example the start->applications menu used to be usefull in the old days. Now its full of junk, luckily windows implemented a good search but if I was still on XP I would cry manly tears of frustration.

The registry gets littered making Windows PC's slower gradually.
And my desktop often gets littered by icons,
most installers try to make me install stuff I dont want. (ugh toolbars, change my home page, install BS) Im always very vigilant about toolbars and other crap, but sometimes one slips past and I have to go trough the trouble of:
editing firefox's settings,
getting my old home url back.
Go into the about:config page and change back what page opens when you open a new tab. (in the browser.tab or something like that).
Run an adware scan,
malware scan,
virus scan and pray your pc is cleaned correctly.

Sometimes you also have to go to msconfig to remove those pesky things from starting automatically when windows does.

Long story short, installers from the net are lame BS bringers from hell.

Oh yeah, some of the best examples are steam and origin, you have to install those to be able to play those games online and they both run at boot standard.

Tell you whats worse, those online installers which download the software for you (and god knows what else) then install it (along with endless toolbars)

Because installers does add some data. I don't want extra data on my PC for a little game. If you've made a game which over 100 MBs, i would install it.

You are evil.

And that font previewer has some nasty backdoor junk in it.
