for those of you who follow Halo 4 or have seen tron: legacy, you know what I mean when I say Derezz. basically, disintegration via separation of particles. the way it works is that a sphere is created from the point of impact, and anything within that sphere is turned into particles. best seen in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVlR8_fhBss how would one go about recreating this effect in U3D? the sphere part is easy; all i want to know is how to make the model parts inside the sphere transparent while applying particles to the affected vertices. is it possible to manipulate individual vertices in U3D? Yes, but I have an inkling your framerate would hate you. Look into Mesh Manipulation. Monty did an example a while ago but the link is dead. Sorry I can't help more, my knowledge about these functions is close to nothing. |
