Is it possible to shape the terrain into a sphere? Or to rotate the terrain? Either that or is it possible to load a height map onto a sphere model or a primitive, so that it deforms like the terrain? Any help or suggestions welcome, thanks. |

Yes.. you can make a model using 3D software. then use the normals on model as your gravity direction. |

Thanks for your reply. I'm not too sure I understand what you mean though. I want to be able to use a height map to deform the model within U3d. Ideally to be able to reform the shape of the terrain to a sphere, because the terrain engine in U3d works quite well. If I apply a height map in 3ds max to deform a sphere, in order to get the detail, the sphere needs to have hundereds to thousands of segments. Which really slows the computer down having to render all of those triangles in real time. I don't understand what you mean about using the normals as a gravity direction. What does the gravity direction have to do with the deformation? Thanks again. |
