Well Game Maker Studio continues to make more and better updates. It seems time is going fast and now, it seems more complex than before. Also now that GM 8.1 no longer accepts license keys (unless you pm for an activation), its now tough to be someone who uses U3D. So this brings me to wonder, how long will it take for U3D to still be functional on GM? Ever wonder if there will be an update that brings an end to u3d dll in the future? Will there be still hope for any ways to get thru GM for u3d functionality? Will it reach a point in time where u3d becomes useless due to so many improved updates by game maker for better 3D quality? Lot of things to wonder,... |

Don't cling on for too long to the past if you want to learn new stuff. GameMaker is simply a small stepping stone into game development. There's greater stuff out there waiting for you. |

You right, I should get more involved in C# and other good languages. But I'm just an artist so I'm gonna have to take some time to learn a lot. I really like game maker because it gets me to concentrate more on graphics than programming. |

Honestly you should probably start with the free version of unity which still has a lot of features. But this is coming from someone that hasn't tried to make a game in a while. I'm more focused on graphics/video design and creating plans for a business. |

Technically it's legal to have copies of software you legitimately own. |

unity is very nice, I love it, still learning but so far it is very good, and what ever happens in the future. U3D will never die, it will always be with those who used it, it was a great experience for me in my steps to be a 3D game programmer, I learned a lot in the simplest of terms That is something that will never die in me, thanx to U3D |

U3D is what really motivated me to start learning more about game production. And is what pushed me to get better at graphics design. And now I am planning on starting a business whos roots are based in graphics design and I have u3d to thank for my current skill level. I still enjoy creating things in u3d for that nostalgic feel, but anything serious will be developed by other means. I was thinking of creating stainless steel u3d keychains or something(would be designed in blender and most likely created through shapeways) so everyone that wants it can order a keepsake. |

I second that. I'm not sure where I would've been with 3d game development today if I hadn't found U3D. |

Continuing on the last few posts... Without U3d and friends like you guys , I would still just only be doing 3D models that are only just pretty to look at and non interactive. Still working on the same Sonic fan game project ... oh god this is taking forever but still having a blast with the project! I think most of the engine is done, thank god ! , Skarik has helping me with the game here and there threwout all these years. Sometimes Baza and I send a few IMs every now and again. Miss working with the community here. |
