What interesting projects have sprung to the minds of old U3D chums in recent years since working with U3D? How much have your skills grown ?
As for me, Still working on the same project that was started with U3D,(Sonic Xtreme) which has since moved over to UDK! ( UDK may not have been the best choice, because of some collision issues (cough hack weeeze, also looking at u U3D)

As for my skills, I'm stuck in a limbo when it comes to programing. however I've improved in the area for planning and making game assets that work together naturally. Had a lot of programming assistance from Skarik of ye old U3D community as well as Xak of Sonic retro community for UDK version.

Here's our Project!

So yeah lets see what you've all been up toooo, U3D community!?

Welcome back!
Wow, I thought you finished that game many years ago.
No U3D for me, just mostly Unity3D.

Over the last 2 years I've been working on (and finished) One Late Night and I'm soon to release the sequel One Late Night: Deadline.

Guess I'm pretty much the only one who is still using Ultimate 3D on a daily basis :D .

Right now I'm adding in fully GPU accelerated skeletal animations. Fully GPU accelerated as in all the CPU has to do is telling what frame should be displayed. After a few weeks of working on it during the weekends it's almost functioning now.

A major redesign has happened but the engine is not all that rich in terms of features currently. Most notable things to mention are a physics-based shading system, fancy shadows (because that's what part of my research is about), a system making creation of new shader effects very simple, awesome text rendering and generally speaking a very high degree of flexibility. There is also a Direct3D 11 backend alongside the Direct3D 9 backend.

Other than that I got a job as graphics researcher and am using Ultimate 3D for a lot of the implementation work that comes up. If things go well, there will be something to show in January or February. No new release of the engine itself though. I'm simply too busy for that and right now it's far from being user-friendly.

So long until I get to start a new game project. We having been waiting for like 5 years. :p

I would use U3D, if it was more up to today's standard. Otherwise it has been a great engine to start out with.

I personally feel the 8.1 shaders are still great.
The engine has some small mistakes that make u3d a hard learning process.

For example -1 from view port size so that . 800 x 600 = 800 x 600 not 801 x 601 cuasing the dumbest shader artifacts ever.

Would love to see DR. B rethink u3d a bit now that the man is older.

Haven't you read my post? That's what I've been doing a lot over the last few years, but turning the new thing into something releasable would be too much work and fixing the old thing here and there would be pretty pointless.

oh yea, it's this topic I promised myself I'd comment on

AFTER is slow because stopped development for about 3 months buut

Spoiler: click to toggle

because systems getting rewritten into their own special little classes and various engine fixes and being solo artist blows
but got ultra basic cross-platform networking working so that's cool

and Withstand is

Spoiler: click to toggle

but it has tons of bugs so don't play it

and school. because going for a triple minor was a great idea, no sarcasm, so im failing all of my classes (lol) and yet still in the upper 30% of all of them yaaay graduate level classes
