What interesting projects have sprung to the minds of old U3D chums in recent years since working with U3D? How much have your skills grown ?
As for me, Still working on the same project that was started with U3D,(Sonic Xtreme) which has since moved over to UDK! ( UDK may not have been the best choice, because of some collision issues (cough hack weeeze, also looking at u U3D)

As for my skills, I'm stuck in a limbo when it comes to programing. however I've improved in the area for planning and making game assets that work together naturally. Had a lot of programming assistance from Skarik of ye old U3D community as well as Xak of Sonic retro community for UDK version.

Here's our Project!

So yeah lets see what you've all been up toooo, U3D community!?

Firstly looking great.
Secondly don't fail school.

Place has been a bit silent.
Most people have the old thread bookmarked.

Just a peaceful sunset in Roloworld, sky is just a texture at the moment.

roloworld?
Haha, I am making a procudural planet, for lack of a better name I just called it Roloworld. Because people often call me Rolo, which happens to mean: "Master of Seduction".
P.S. Don't look at the other definitions of Rolo.

what are you making it with?

I'm currently trying a new method of hard surface modelling. By sculpting a high poly prototype, then retopologizing each section as a separate object and then using the solidify modifier to give depth and make it so you can't see in between the separate objects. Then if desired the objects can be joined into a single mesh, or kept separate for certain physics engines.

It's generated procedurally, but at the moment the landscape it generates is not varying enough. (Just trowing perlin noise on top of perlin noise on top of perlin noise on top of perlin noise.)

I also had to cut up my mesh into multiple buffers because I have a 64k vertex limit per buffer. I am using skirts to hide the seems.

I haven't yet looked at physics engines, but I think I can stream the high quality sections of the mesh into the physics engine and freeze the physics engine on lower quality sections. Then if I ever get to the point where I have a playable game and I want to implement multiplayer I can do some basic math so that physics is calculated on client. And put constaints on the maximum delta movement per update (To limit cheating).

But currently I am avoiding using a computer keyboard in my free time, even typing this message is a violation of my own rule. I have a pretty big work load at school, and my laptop there is torture for my arms.

Yup, it effects me as well but I have no idea why it's not working. I've not changed anything about the subdomain settings and they look alright. If the problem persists, I'll file a support ticket.
