From Aug 2006 - Nov 2013 WeDig provided a live forum for diggers & fans of Vindolanda. It has now been mothballed and will be maintained as a live archive.

Here you will find preserved 7 years of conversation, photos, & knowledge about a site many people love. Vindolanda gets under the skin. (Figuratively and literally as a volunteer excavator!) It's a place you remember, filled with people you remember!

Thanks for 7 great years!

Vindolanda report help
Most of the reports & papers you'll find here at WeDig are still copyright-protected by the original author/publisher. Where there's a current copyright-owner, I've identified them in the post/page so folks can get in touch if they want to reuse the material.

Good luck on the project!

Antioch floor mosaic
Wow, I lived in Boston for years and had no idea that Worcester's museum had such amazing stuff.

My recollection is the same as Badger's -- mosaics being more of a refined, settled, villa thing.

Roman Murder Mystery
I'm curious. WeDig'ers who watched -- what did you think??

consolidation pics
Amazing pictures! Thanks much for posting! Hard to believe how much was done in a year, was thrilled to be part of it in even a little way.

Vindolanda iPad app
What a cool idea! Must get.

Roll Call 2012 - Who's Coming?
Don't look now, but it's exactly 12 weeks (that's 84 days) til the 1st trowel in the ground for 2012!

If you haven't added your name to the list but would like to, please drop me a PM, or send an e-mail to text_style@hotmail.com and I'll put you in. Can we get all the weeks represented? Better yet, can we get all the weeks represented several diggers deep?

From the archive
Here's the morning back in June '06 when we got pulled off the outside wall as it was, well, buckling! I guess they figured our heads weren't yet hard enough to withstand the blow. I gave us even odds.

(For reference, this is just a few meters south of the exposed bit of collapsed wall that the Trust left in place and on view.)

In Our Time podcasts
He's Cumbrian? Neat. I used to listen to "In Our Time" streaming all the time. Great way to wind down in the evenings, and learn something in the process. Must get back into it, thanks for the tip Justin!
