From Aug 2006 - Nov 2013 WeDig provided a live forum for diggers & fans of Vindolanda. It has now been mothballed and will be maintained as a live archive.

Here you will find preserved 7 years of conversation, photos, & knowledge about a site many people love. Vindolanda gets under the skin. (Figuratively and literally as a volunteer excavator!) It's a place you remember, filled with people you remember!

Seasons greetings, not that long since this section of wall was excavated (2009?) but thought the contrast was interesting. I reckon the trust could do a iphone dig countdown app, sales may be sluggish though! Roman numerals only.
The first photo shows the wall partially stripped down for consolidation, some courses already removed so that they could be secured without the wall falling down. So as shown in the second photo, the wall ended up the same size as it was excavated. If we were going to add something we would have removed that silly gap in the middle of the second photo :-)
