From Aug 2006 - Nov 2013 WeDig provided a live forum for diggers & fans of Vindolanda. It has now been mothballed and will be maintained as a live archive.

Here you will find preserved 7 years of conversation, photos, & knowledge about a site many people love. Vindolanda gets under the skin. (Figuratively and literally as a volunteer excavator!) It's a place you remember, filled with people you remember!

Thanks for 7 great years!

The 2008 Season
Excavation T-shirts

Hi all,

New Excavations T-shirts

This year we will be resplendent in black excavation T-shirts. Black has been a long time coming, and it's year has finally arrived. The design will be simple, and will also carry the NRF logo (Northern Rock Foundation logo) an extension of the Northern Rock bank. Why? They have very generously and successfully sponsored the Vindolanda excavations in the past, winning a top national archaeology sponsorship award in 2001 for their efforts. In a mark of profound respect for the work of the Northern Rock Foundation has carried helping many good causes in the region (as well as our own) the Vindolanda Trust wanted to show it's support.

Old Excavation T-shirts

Not all shirts from past seasons find a loving home, some people fail to show up for various reasons and their t-shirts are never claimed, we also tend to over order to compensate for any girth changes that may have taken places post booking and pre turning up. Most of them are the designs you can see at the top of this page. Those that we have left from past seasons are going to be sold to excavators for the princely sum of £2 (or $4 for Harry’s benefit). It is on a first come first served basis, so those that arrive in March, April and May might clean us out. Just another good reason to book in for March, April or May on the excavations then!

Best,

Andy

Revenue brainstorm
Sponsorship board

This year we are looking for new sponsorship deals for the Vindolanda Trust, and in particular the excavations.

In the excavation shed, on the wall, will be a sponsorship board. It is an extension of this forum, and anyone who has a brainstorming idea of who they think we could approach for sponsorship for the Vindolanda excavations, can add their thoughts to it. Of course, if anyone out there has links to an organisation that would like to feature large in being associated with the Vindolanda excavations I would appreciate them giving me a call.

I think it is safe to say that this is a great opportunity for a company to get involved in a premier archaeological site with world heritage status, film crews, newspaper stories and 85,000 visitors a year. If anyone knows a company who may find this attractive can they please direct them to the Vindolanda at the following contact details.
