From Aug 2006 - Nov 2013 WeDig provided a live forum for diggers & fans of Vindolanda. It has now been mothballed and will be maintained as a live archive.

Here you will find preserved 7 years of conversation, photos, & knowledge about a site many people love. Vindolanda gets under the skin. (Figuratively and literally as a volunteer excavator!) It's a place you remember, filled with people you remember!

Thanks for 7 great years!

This is definately something to avoid. Although it is very amusing, perhaps they should have sold it as a comedy rather than a drama.

A side-trip
A great fort in superb condition covered by grass and cow pats, and the most impressive series of fort dicthes to be seen anywhere in the UK. Get a good map though, it is easy enough to find but is not signposted, if you get to Alston you have gone too far. Nor is there a car park or any other facilities, oh, and watch out for the bull in the field as well. :D
