From Aug 2006 - Nov 2013 WeDig provided a live forum for diggers & fans of Vindolanda. It has now been mothballed and will be maintained as a live archive.

Here you will find preserved 7 years of conversation, photos, & knowledge about a site many people love. Vindolanda gets under the skin. (Figuratively and literally as a volunteer excavator!) It's a place you remember, filled with people you remember!

Thanks for 7 great years!

Hi Jackie,

Nice to hear from you again. I remember you well and it would be great to see you on the dig again once the little fella get a little bit older and you get some time to yourself again. Hope you are well

Week 15. By far and away the best hat of the year award goes to Mrs. Mc - Simply stunning!

Caption Fun
Very good Duncan that'll take some beating! I knew I'd be able to rely on you
Ok my 2 penny worth for the photos.
1. 'And with this new qualification in my right hand here, I feel totally confident about using the mechanical digger to strip off the topsoil for you all! Don't worry 'bout a thing'.
2. 'Brian suspected he was often called a horny little toad, but felt that this was taking things a bit far'! Sorry Brian :P
3. 'After receiving 250hrs of community service each, there was a dawning recognition that nicking the Hadrian's Wall bus for a joyride wasn't such a good idea after all"

Great pics Brian. Ahhh happy memories - when the sun shone and the colours were easy to spot. What I would give for that right now!!!!!!!

Week 14. Somewhat depleted but still pretty handy. A big thank you to the terrific trio who showed up, we did really well considering the circumstances! Thanks fellas.

Week 13. The diving team of week 13. Trowels were left in the tool shed and snorkels issued. Barrowing in flippers was certainly entertaining and Edinburgh zoo's 'penguin parade' had nothing on us!

Week 12. Still no let up in the rain. Never mind with Sterling, Hugh and Eric around it could never be said that conversation was dull!
